The overall sentiment was hit globally after data in the US showed that non-farm payrolls increased higher than expected by 216,000 in December. While the US Fed has guided for three rate cuts in 2024, the strong jobs report diminished prospects of early cut in interest rates by the US Fed.

Shweta Rajani says: “Today you have arbitrage options which are like debt for you to a certain extent and are taxed at 10%. So that can be managed very well but just getting your asset mix right and your market cap mix right which is relevant for your portfolio and your strategy cannot be done in a multi-asset or a hybrid fund. This is where I would suggest a pure play equity and debt rather than a multi-asset.”

On the technical charts, the 200-day moving average of the stock stood at Rs 520.83.

The Relative Strength Index of the stock stood at 69.3 on Monday.

Baldev Prakash says: Asset quality has been the biggest success story of the bank. If you see the numbers in the last two years, one-and-a-half years, you will see that consistently on a quarter-on-quarter basis, we have not only achieved our guidance, but surpassed that. As of today, we are already below 5% and our guidance is 4.5% on gross NPA.”

Anthony Heredia says: “Every other month, we are going to see a new peak in SIPs. SIP flows will trend to double the overall flows of the industry over the next three to five years. When I talk to investors, the comfort they have towards SIPs is probably 2x the comfort they have towards funds in general.”

Venugopal Garre says: “The current play on PSU infrastructure is good. It is good for the next maybe 12 months but you will have to start looking at more proactively potential opportunities in the private sector and whether these PSUs can actually tap that or not. Quite a few of them cannot. So this is a transition phase for them because a mix of capex will change over time.”
