The Dow Jones Industrial Average rose 51.2 points, or 0.18%, at the open to 37,498.28.

​Sebi on Thursday said Govindayapalli Ram Mohan Rao has taken charge as an executive director and will handle the departments of investigation and internal inspection. Earlier, Rao was the regional director of the eastern regional office of Sebi (Securities and Exchange Board of India).

​Plant-based speciality products company Sanstar Ltd has filed its draft papers with capital markets regulator Sebi to raise Rs 425-500 crore through an initial public offering.

The company aims to raise up to Rs 250 crore through the sale of a 2034 bond with a coupon of 8.80% and Rs 250 crore through the sale of a 2029 bond with a coupon of 8.70%, sources aware of the development said. Bidding for the two sets of NCDs are to take place on January 8 from 11:30 am to 1 pm, they said.

With pricing growth remaining subdued due to price increases in the base year, the growth during the third quarter is largely volume-led. Early signs of revival in consumption are visible with improving trends in volumes, the company said in a filing.

The 52-week high functions as a vital technical indicator for both traders and investors, representing the highest price a stock has reached in the preceding year.

Open Interest (OI) data showed the call side displayed the highest OI at the 49,000 level, closely followed by the 49,500 strike prices. Conversely, on the put side, the highest OI was observed at the 48,000 strike price.

Stocks that were in focus include names like Sobha Ltd which was up more than 16% to hit a fresh record high, Torrent Power gained more than 7% and Tata Consumer Products closed with gains of over 3% to hit a fresh record high.
