"Since the last meeting in October, 10-year JGB yields have fallen and the yen has appreciated, giving the BOJ little incentive to revise policy at this stage," said Barclays economist Christian Keller.

Stocks that were in focus included names like PNB, which rose 1.33%, PB Fintech, which fell 2.15%, and Deepak Nitrite, whose shares declined 1.33% on Friday.

For the first time, leading banks have said they are willing to explore an arrangement for sharing some information on corporate defaults with rating companies. At a meeting last week, officials of some of the large state-owned and private sector banks told CRAs that they are open to the idea and would await the agencies to suggest a format for sharing information, a person familiar with the discussion told ET.

The third tranche of the SGB in this financial year is available for subscription December 18-22, while the fourth will open in February. Investors will have to pay ₹6,149 per gram of gold after a discount of ₹50 per gram for digital payments. This is ₹276 per gram higher than the price during the second tranche in September 2023 (₹5,873).
