In stark contrast to an exceptionally good September quarter, the Hindi film industry has faced a subdued start to the December quarter, with all 14 movies released in October failing to attract significant audiences to theaters. Notably, big studios and distributors largely refrained from investing in pre-release marketing and promotion, leaving moviegoers unaware of the titles.

"Economic activity expanded at a strong pace in the third quarter," the US central bank said in a policy statement after a two-day meeting in which officials unanimously agreed to leave the benchmark overnight interest rate in the 5.25-5.50% range where it has been since July.

The assets on the block are a dozen cases including loans to Videocon Oil Ventures (VOVL), Jaiprakash Associates (JAL) and Wind World, which are facing various delays in their resolution.

The short-term trend of Nifty continues to be weak. It is expected to slide down to the lower support of 18,850 levels (200 day EMA) once again before showing another round of upside bounce from the lows. Any intra-week upmove from here could encounter resistance around 19,100 levels, said Nagaraj Shetti of HDFC Securities.

Even as the company reported a robust increase in net profit, Hero MotoCorp Executive Chairman Pawan Munjal took a voluntary pay cut, according to a company filing with the exchanges.

Its gross non-performing assets ratio declined to 4.33% at the end of September from 4.91% a year back. Net NPA ratio was at 2.59% against 2.83%. Provision coverage ratio fell to 41.22% from 43.65%.

Apart from trading revenue, the revenue from operations was also supported by other revenue lines which include clearing services, listing services, index services, data services and colocation services.

Brent January crude futures were up about 2.5%, or $2.08, to $87.10 a barrel by 1316 GMT. U.S. West Texas Intermediate crude futures gained roughly 2.8%, or $2.24, to $83.26 a barrel.
