The state-owned lender had a provision write-back of Rs 227.5 crore in the quarter. In the same period last year its provisions was Rs 771 crore.

Net interest income, the difference between interest earned and interest expended, grew 23.5% on year to Rs 6,297 crore. Provisions during the quarter doubled on year to Rs 367 crore.

Gross non-performing assets ratio as of September 30, was 2.0%, unchanged from the quarter-ago period, but sharply lower than 12.9% a year ago.
