Banks in India will no longer be able to secretly auction off stressed loans under a new framework agreed upon by high-street banks. The decision to auction loans must now be notified to all key players in the market, ending the practice of keeping potential bidders in the dark. Banks have also established a timeline to close such deals within seven working days after receiving final approval from lending banks.

The sale of dollar bonds from developing countries sunk to the lowest since 2021 in August as global yields spiked to multi-year highs and 15 emerging nations traded at distressed levels. Only $1.4 billion has been raised in emerging debt this month, compared with $4.5 billion in August 2022 and average monthly sales of $15.4 billion this year.

Stocks that were in focus include names like Shoppers Stop which was down more than 12%, Escorts Kubota rose more than 2% to hit a fresh high and Mastek closed with gains of over 4% on Friday.
