The stock hit a record high of Rs 477 on 4th January 2023 but it failed to hold on to the momentum. The stock saw a vertical drop from record highs but managed to find support above 50-DMA on the weekly charts in March 2023.

In fact, if you see last year, the whole narrative was interest rates were on the rise and to that extent there was a natural inclination to play banks which worked out beautifully towards the end of the last year.

The Nifty Auto index closed 0.64 per cent up at 15425.0.

As part of the demerger plan, which will not only unlock value for its 36 lakh shareholders but also improve capital allocation of the parent company, ITC will own 40% in ITC Hotels. The remaining 60% will be owned by ITC shareholders in proportion to their ownership in the parent entity.

High dividend-paying stocks are the most sought-after on Dalal Street as they reward investors with consistent payouts irrespective of the market sentiments. According to an Axis Securities report, PSU stocks such as Coal India, ONGC, Oil India and REC delivered dividend yields of up to 9% to their investors in the last 12 months.

Barring Adani Green Energy which was down 0.44%, all other stocks viz. Adani Enterprises (0.35%), Adani Ports and Special Economic Zone (1.20%), Adani Transmission (1.88 %), Adani Total Gas (0.09%), Adani Wilmar (0.77%), ACC (0.09%), Ambuja Cements and NDTV rose between 0.09-2%.
