Gold retreated on Monday, with spot gold prices in the Delhi markets trading at Rs 59,950/10 gram, down by Rs 50 per 10 gram, taking cues from overseas markets, Saumil Gandhi, Senior Analyst - Commodities at HDFC Securities, said.

The profit before tax (PBT) grew 9% year-on-year to Rs 248 crore in the reporting period. The company added 422 employees in the first quarter, taking the total headcount to over 12,000, with attrition dropping further to 15.6%.

The Indian rupee closed 12 paise higher at 82.05 (provisional) against the US dollar on 19 July, boosted by the performance of domestic equity benchmarks, which reached all-time highs, and weakness in the greenback. Forex traders said the currency also benefited from steady foreign fund inflows into domestic markets.
