RBI deputy governor T Rabi Sankar pointed out that transactions through CBDCs bypass intermediaries and are instantaneous. In its aim to increase the acceptability of the CBDC, the RBI will take build on the existing network of the Unified Payment Interface and introduce interoperability for CBDC transactions, Sankar said.

The Hinduja family is reportedly exploring raising up to $1bn to fund its acquisition of Reliance Capital, for which it is the preferred bidder. The financing timeline could take between three and six months, depending on legal issues and court approvals for the acquisition, and the final list of financiers could change, sources said.

​Adani, fresh from a $2.8 billion capital raising, may face intense competition for Vidarbha Industries Power Ltd., which operates the 600-megawatt generation facilities in central India, according to the people, who asked not to be identified as the plans are private.

The company has fixed a price band of Rs 23-25 per share for the IPO, which is entirely a fresh issue of shares of Rs 500 crore. About 75% of the offer is reserved for qualified institutional buyers (QIBs), 15% for non-institutional investors (NIIs) and the rest 10% for retail investors, who can bid for a minimum of 600 shares in one lot and in multiples thereafter
