NARCL's federal guarantee comes through after delay

"The guarantee has been approved by the department of financial services (DFS) earlier this week. It is now expected that NARCL will complete the take over of SPML debt by next week, the first takeover by the bad bank in more than three months," said a person aware of the process.

I think we have been saying both on slippage and credit cost, it will be amongst the top quartile of banks. Our credit cost for the quarter was about 40 bps which is what we had guided for.

​I am not putting much emphasis on the quarter-on-quarter number because this is a seasonally weak quarter and not a correct comparison but that year-on-year comparison tells you that they are headed towards that 7-8% kind of annual growth rate, which is within the guidance.

Perpetual bonds, which include AT-1 bonds, are considered riskier than other debt instruments, as they can be written down before equity, leading to losses for investors.
