At least 10 new financial technology platforms have sprung up during the pandemic with the aim of grabbing a share of the $1.9 trillion market for bank time deposits. They promise much higher interest rates through putting money into company bonds, which are generally seen as riskier higher-yielding debt.

According to the release, the deal has been sealed for 600 million Euros (about Rs 4,831.8 crore), wherein Varroc will be divesting its lighting System operations in the USA, Brazil, Mexico, Poland, Czech Republic, Germany, Turkey, and Morocco.

The LIC has set a price band of Rs 902-Rs 949 per equity share. The government intends to raise Rs 21,000 crore through the issue.

"Inflation affects different asset classes in different ways. Generally fixed income returns would be impacted more as compared to equities where inflation-linked sectors will do better. The key is to maintain a well-diversified portfolio across all asset classes. However, the real return expectations should be moderated during high inflation scenarios. The portfolio should be aligned to commodity producing sectors which are expected to do better than commodity user sectors."

Among two-wheelers, Bajaj Auto is in a fair valuation zone; its exports are doing well, domestic markets are stable and there so no trigger for any significant downside or upside.”

“I am not that bullish on any of the FMCG companies at this point of time, ITC included. One is better off in some of the other larger businesses that could be technology, banking and even capital goods. Something like Larsen & Toubro, that has more sustainability and growth of earnings than the FMCG pack.”
