"Maruti can do much better from here. Similarly, in the case of Ashok Leyland, we are seeing an uptick in demand for CVs and things improving on the economic front. The EV play is rolling out for Ashok Leyland very well. Both stocks should do well. In M&M, we have seen a sharp movement and it is one of the best performing auto names in the last one year."

The nine stocks are Nuclear Software Exports, Finolex Cables, Waaree Renewable Technologies, Chaman Lal Setia Exports, PG Electroplast, Ganesh Benzoplast, WPIL, Zen Technologies, and Apar Industries. Nuclear Software Exports hit its 52-week high on February 16. The stock has rallied 39% in the past week. So far this year, the shares have surged 42% on a year-to-date basis.

“EV as a theme is here to stay. So that way, TVS Motor, Greaves Cotton, will do well because one, a) valuation is on the side, b) volumes on the EV space are coming through and c), after the current cycle of interest rate hike, as it peaks, we will see a return of demand for two-wheeler segment.”

"One little contrarian or little ahead of the curve call would be metals. We have seen really atrocious numbers. As China recovers and we see the Chinese economic recovery gaining traction around June, all of a sudden you will see price action coming back. So I would take some positions in metals in anticipation of a Chinese recovery; the profit numbers were very poor, and margins fell down because of pricing going off, I think global pricing will come back to metals and that will help our metal producers as well."
