The Nifty50 index fell 9 points or 0.05% to 17,350, while the S&P BSE Sensex dropped 53 points or 0.09% to 58,938, as of 9.33 am.

Pan-India average price is down 1% month-on-month in March 2023 and flat on the quarter-to-date basis in 4QFY23. The cement players attempted price hikes in February-March 2023 however, a significant portion of the hikes was reversed by offering discounts, incentives and price cuts. As a result, the all-India average cement price appears to be flat to marginally negative in 4Q v/s 3QFY23

​In the near term, equity markets will likely take cues from global trends and RBI monetary policy due later this week. Investors will also keep a close watch on FII inflows after relentless selling for the past few months

The Nifty Bank index was trading 0.04 per cent down at 40592.6.

Govt has kept prices unchanged at $8.6/mmbtu for now. Continued delay could create a near-term overhang for the city gas distribution (CGD) stocks. Top gas pick GAIL is also a key beneficiary of lower APM gas prices. The global investment bank continues to view stance of Govt towards CGD sector favourable.
