In the last 10 trading sessions, the Nifty has moved up by 1,000 points. So a bit of a pause, a bit of profit booking, a bit of consolidation is absolutely warranted.

HUL reported a 11.2 per cent year-on-year growth in revenue from operations to Rs 12,724 crore for the reported quarter, which was in-line with Street’s expectation.

Nifty50 formed a Bearish Belt Hold or a Bearish Engulfing sort of candle on the daily scale and ended the day with a loss of around 60 points after the winning streak of last seven sessions.

Technical indicators such as the 14-day RSI suggest Nifty50 is still in the overbought zone. A consolidation is likely, said analysts, who believe the 18,300 level would be a crucial support for the index.

“There is a long way to go for IRCTC in terms of long-term potential.”

In the Nifty pack, 16 stocks closed in the green, while 34 stocks ended in the red.

Net sales rose 9.63 per cent to Rs 3,864.97 crore as against Rs 3,525.41 crore earlier.

The Nifty50 index closed 0.3 per cent lower at 18,423.35, while the BSE-Sensex ended at 61,716.05 points, down 0.1 per cent. Both the indices had fallen over 0.5 per cent at one time during the session.

In the international market, gold was trading higher at $1,782 per ounce and silver was flat at $23.72 per ounce.
