“A sharp downgrade of growth estimates by the US Fed cannot be bullish for Indian technology companies. Demand has to moderate. Be careful buying the sector just because the stocks are near 52-week lows,” independent market expert Sandip Sabharwal said.

Gold futures on MCX were trading lower, easing about 0.10 per cent or Rs 52 to Rs 50,934 per 10 grams. Meanwhile, silver futures dropped close to 0.21 per cent or Rs 128 at Rs 61,399 per kg.

“RIL’s AGM tends to be announcement-heavy, and expectations run high in the run-up to the AGM (like the last three), and this year they centre on concrete timelines being announced for IPOs of the consumer business,” the brokerage said in a report released on Wednesday. “We do not expect any concrete timelines from this year’s AGM on the consumer businesses IPOs (Jio and Reliance Retail),” it said.

“The 8.7% growth must be taken with a pinch of salt. It comes on the back of a contraction in previous fiscal going forward growth as we are nowhere near our potential. It will be perhaps stagnant to that extent. Stagflation is the combination of stagnant growth and high inflation. We could very well be there before the end of the next fiscal.”
