Economists forecast the BoE will hike borrowing costs by a quarter-point to 1.25 percent, the highest since the global financial crisis in 2009.Richard Hunter, head of markets at Interactive Investor, said both the BoE and Fed were battling runaway inflation -- and hoped their economies would withstand rising borrowing costs.

On the technical charts, the 200-day moving average of the stock stood at Rs 1712.55.

It further added that the stable tax environment for cigarettes in recent years has allowed ITC to calibrate price increases to avoid a disruption in demand and this trend is likely to continue and should result in improved cigarette volumes and earnings visibility over the medium-term.
