Among Sensex stocks, Bajaj Finance fell 1.51 per cent to Rs 7,375.75. HDFC twins, which surged in the previous session, shed 1 per cent each. Bajaj Finserv, Kotak Mahindra Bank, IndusInd Bank, SBI and Bharti Airtel dropped up to 0.9 per cent.

"Based on valuation by the valuers and the fairness opinion the share exchange ratio has been determined at 42 equity shares of HDFC Bank of face value of Re 1 per share for every 25 equity shares of HDFC Ltd. of face value of Rs 2 per share. The conclusion of this transaction is subject to regulatory and statutory approvals."

The private bank said that gross advances during 2021-22 (Apr-Mar) rose by 9.5 per cent to Rs 1,47,644 crore, while total deposits grew by over 5 per cent during the year. The gross advances as of March 31, 2021 were at Rs 1, 34,877 crore.

Following the development, shares of SBI Cards and Payment Services crumbled about 5 per cent to Rs 835.45. However, the scrip recovered to Rs 846.50 at 9.45 am. It had settled at Rs 876.75 on Monday.

On the technical charts, the 200-day moving average of the stock stood at Rs 127.46.
