Gold prices eased on Tuesday as the U.S. dollar edged higher, but lingering inflation concerns kept bullion close to a more than one-week peak hit in the previous session. Spot gold inched 0.2% lower to $1,765.41 per ounce by 0530 GMT, after hitting $1,770.41, its highest since Sept. 23, on Monday. U.S. gold futures were 0.1% lower at $1,766.20.

Asian shares suffered heavy losses early on Tuesday following a broad sell-off on Wall Street, as markets fretted about the impact of multi-year high oil prices at a time when supply chain disruptions are already putting pressure on economic activity.

Earlier, Zee Entertainment Enterprises Ltd moved to Bombay High Court against the requisition of minority shareholders, Invesco and OFI Global China Fund, to convene an Extraordinary General Meeting (EGM) to discuss various issues, including removal of Managing Director Punit Goenka. The company had filed a civil suit before the high court requesting to declare the requisition notice sent to it as "illegal and invalid".

Oil prices eased on Tuesday after climbing to their highest levels in years in the previous session on the decision by OPEC and allied major oil producers to maintain restraint on supply. Brent crude was down by 3 cents at $81.83 a barrel by 0054 GMT, having rising 2.5% on Monday. U.S. West Texas Intermediate (WTI) oil dropped 10 cents to $77.52, after gaining 2.3% the previous session.

FIDC bats for on-tap refinance for NBFCs

“There is a dire need for an effective refinance mechanism to ensure diversity and greater regularity in sources of funds to NBFCs,” FIDC said in its letter. “We believe that SIDBI is most suited as an institution to provide such a facility to NBFCs for onward lending to MSMEs and other appropriate sectors.”
