Miners rebounded 1.6% after touching December 2021 lows in the previous session, while oil & gas stocks rose 1.2% as crude prices rose almost 1% on tight supplies of crude and fuel products.

The Nikkei stock average ended the day up 1.84% at 26,246.31, after gaining as much as 2.5% during the session. At the start of the week, the benchmark index had dipped to a low of 25,520.23 for the first time since March 16.

Shares of Tata Steel have seen a sharp correction lately. The stock has plunged about 45 per cent from its 52-week high and is hovering close to its 52-week lows.

On the technical charts, the RSI of the stock stood at 39.74.

“Currently there is no steel company which is making losses in India but when the times were bad you had SAIL, RNL and a lot of other companies who were making losses. We have not reached that stage yet where it is of extreme value.”

The Nifty IT index closed 0.87 per cent up at 26966.2.

At 9.21 am, the BSE Sensex was trading 415.95 points or 0.81 per cent higher at 52,013.79. Nifty50 was trading at 15,483.25, up 133.10 points or 0.87 per cent. Midcap and smallcap indices gained up to 1.3 per cent.
