An agreement for the consumer unit may be announced as soon as the next few weeks and is contingent on approval from the Reserve Bank of India, the people said, asking not to be identified as the information is private. Operating profit margins for a sample of 432 companies (excluding banks and financials) contracted 200 basis points year-on-year (Y-o-Y) as raw materials costs jumped 466 basis points Y-o-Y. High costs ate into margins.
