Shares of Kering fell 3.5% to their lowest since early 2020 as the French luxury group posted a bigger-than-expected drop in third-quarter sales on slowing demand for high-end clothes and accessories.

Shweta Jain, Founder of Investography, explains that systematic transfer plans (STPs) are like SIPs for individuals who do not have a regular monthly income. STPs allow investors to stagger their investments over a period of time, typically 3 to 12 months, in order to take advantage of rupee cost averaging. To implement an STP, investors first choose an equity scheme and then invest their lump-sum amount in a liquid fund. The money is then systematically transferred from the liquid fund to the equity fund.

“Assuming that you are a medium to long-term investor, you enter in a disciplined manner on a staggered basis, a larger midcap fund is a good allocation that you can make in your portfolio. And it should give you stability of largecaps and also potential kick-up from midcaps with a reasonable control on the volatility overall.”

According to a study by ETMarkets, foreign institutional investors (FIIs) have consistently increased their stakes in 81 small-cap stocks listed on the BSE during the past four quarters (from December 2022 to September 2023).

Meanwhile, the global cryptocurrency market cap surged 0.48% to around $1.26 trillion in the last 24 hours. Bitcoin was up 0.73% at $34,139 as of 12:33 p.m., while its largest peer, Ethereum, fell 1.2% to below the $ 1,800 level.
