S&P 500 E-Mini futures edged up after they opened on Sunday, last up 0.2%, while oil prices were virtually unchanged.

With 500 billion yuan worth of MLF loans maturing, the PBOC is injecting fresh liquidity into the banking system. Market watchers polled by Reuters last week predicted no change to the MLF rate.

The Indian market is supported by domestic savings channeled through mutual fund systematic investment plans (SIPs) and improving corporate profitability, despite expensive macro parameters. Domestic-facing sectors, especially capital goods and railways, are expected to outperform in terms of earnings growth. Rising US yields and geopolitical uncertainties are headwinds facing equity markets in the short term. The recent market correction is seen as healthy, and India is considered a long-term buy-on-dip market.

Dollar buoyed by safe-haven bids, rate jitters

Elsewhere, the safe-haven dollar stood near a one-week high against a basket of currencies as risk sentiment remained fragile, pinning the euro near a one-week low hit on Friday.

Gold, which is seen as a safe investment during uncertain times, hit its highest since Sept. 20 at $1,934.82 earlier in the session, after surging 3.4% on Friday in its biggest one-day rise in seven months.
