Gold futures have witnessed negative returns in May due to an increase in the value of the Dollar Index (DXY) against a basket of six major currencies. The safe-haven appeal of gold may be affected in the near term due to the expected resolution of the US debt ceiling and strong economic indicators in the US. Gold was trading at $1,948.10 per troy ounce, up by $4.40 or 0.23%, while silver futures were trading at $23.04, higher by $0.130 or 0.570%. Despite consolidating in a lower range, gold has gained 8.18% so far this year.

The Competition Commission of India (CCI) has approved the acquisition of additional Series E compulsorily convertible preference shares of Acko Technology & Services by Multiples Private Equity Fund III and CPP Investment Board Pvt Holdings (4). Acko is engaged in providing technology and outsourced services while also providing all-round damage protection plans for electronic devices such as mobile phones and facilitating the sale and purchase of new and used vehicles through its platform. The target (through its affiliates) is also involved in the provision of non-life insurance services in India. The companies involved belong to the Multiples and Canada Pension Plan Investment Board groups.

The Indian auto component maker Samvardhana Motherson sees a year-on-year increase in revenue from operations of 30% to Rs 224.77 billion. The Board has recommended a dividend of Rs 0.65 per equity share. It has a booked business of nearly Rs 5.7 trillion ($77bn) from the automotive segment with the net debt to EBITDA ratio improving to 1.4x from 1.8x quarter-on-quarter.

The stock traded at a P/E multiple of 32.23, while the price-to-book value ratio stood at 5.01.

A total of 8,265 shares changed hands on the counter till 02:14PM (IST).

For FY23, however, the loss widened to Rs 29,301 crore from Rs 28,245 crore a year ago. Revenue from operations rose nearly 10% to Rs 42,177 crore

The stock quoted a 52-week high price of Rs 1509.25 and low of Rs 1102.1.
