Fourth-quarter earnings season has hit full stride, with more than one fourth of the companies in the S&P 500 having reported. Of those, 69% have beaten consensus estimates, up from 67% on Wednesday, according to Refinitiv.

Aditya Birla Sun Life AMC on Friday reported an 11 per cent decline in profit after tax (PAT) to Rs 166.3 crore for three months ended December 2022. In comparison, the company had posted a PAT of Rs 186.2 crore in the same quarter of the preceding fiscal, the asset management firm said in a regulatory filing.

The company predicted a surprise loss for the first quarter and its revenue forecast was $3 billion below estimates as it also struggled with slowing growth in the data center business.

Accordingly, Sebi has barred the entities "from accessing the securities market for a period of three years ... and are also prohibited from buying, selling or otherwise dealing in securities, directly or indirectly, or being associated with the securities market in any manner, whatsoever, for the same period"

The consolidated results include the earnings of its wholly owned subsidiaries -- Bajaj Housing Finance, Bajaj Financial Securities, and its associate company Snapwork Technologies.The asset quality of the non-banking finance company improved with gross non-performing assets falling to 1.14% at the end of December against 1.73% a year back. Net NPA was at 0.41% against 0.78%.

The S&P 500 opened lower by 6.71 points, or 0.17%, at 4,053.72, while the Nasdaq Composite dropped 41.94 points, or 0.36%, to 11,470.47 at the opening bell.

To settle short-delivered trades, exchanges conduct a 30-minute auction from 2 PM on T+1 (used to be T+2). If the short-delivered stock is a mid or small-cap stock, then the price can trade as much as 20% away from the current market price due to low participation in auctions
