The European common currency touched $1.0563 in early Asia trade, after rising 1.1% overnight, its largest day of percentage gains since March.

Earlier this month, the first-year premium data of life insurers showed that the Life Insurance Corp (LIC) consolidated its position on the top with almost a one-and-a-half times increase in the first-year premium. LIC has a 65% market share, almost double the 35% of all private life insurers put together.

Over 5.15 crore LIC shares were traded on Tuesday as against the free float of 16.24 crore shares, excluding shares allotted to anchor investors. Retail investors were allotted shares at ₹904 apiece, a discount of ₹45, or 4.7%, on the issue price. Policyholders were given the shares at ₹889, a discount of ₹60, or 6.3%, on the issue price.
