Gold prices fell on Thursday, as U.S. Treasury yields rose while investors opted for riskier assets amid a retreat in oil prices after the United Arab Emirates said it would help increase oil production, making safe-haven bullion less appealing.

The Dow Jones Industrial Average rose 653.61 points, or 2%, to 33,286.25, the S&P 500 gained 107.18 points, or 2.57%, to 4,277.88 and the Nasdaq Composite added 460.00 points, or 3.59%, to 13,255.55.

In another transaction, Hinduja Group and Hinduja Realty Ventures bought over 10 lakh shares of Hinduja Global Solution. These shares were sold by Aasia Corporation and Aasia Exports.

The Dow Jones Industrial Average rose 227.78 points, or 0.70%, at the open to 32,860.42.

“Our preference would be export-oriented sectors like IT and pharma. Telecom sector would probably offer the best earnings growth in the next couple of years. Select private sector banks should also be okay. Those are the pockets where we would like to continue to buy from a medium to longer term perspective.”
