The 28th Financial Stability Report from RBI highlighted that scheduled commercial banks have ample capital buffers, ensuring regulatory compliance even under severe stress scenarios. The report also underscored the need for suitable regulatory and supervisory measures to mitigate risks arising from the expanding use of technology and innovation in the financial system.

Indian companies collectively raised $7.1 billion (around ₹54,000 crore) through the IPO route. Its share in the total money raised globally through IPOs expanded to 5.6%, up from 4.1% in the previous year. China raised $60.5 billion, accounting for nearly 48% of the global funds raised compared with 56% a year ago.

Analysts attributed the recent market strength to stability in global equities, prompting traders to cover their bearish wagers.

"SBI shifts from bucket 3 to bucket 4 and HDFC Bank shifts from bucket 1 to bucket 2. For SBI and HDFC Bank, the higher D-SIB buffer requirements on account of the bucket increase will be effective from April 1, 2025," the RBI said on Thursday.

"It is also observed that many banks have not been spending fully the budget earmarked for procurement of IT systems and IT security systems. Banks have to proactively commit adequate resources for augmenting their IT infrastructure," Swaminathan said at an event organised by State Bank of India.

"I believe there are vulnerabilities to this growth assessment in the sense that there are a few major drivers on the demand side. We see weaker growth in consumption. We also honestly do not see external demand being a major driver," Bhide said at an event organised by State Bank of India on Thursday.
