From the Sensex pack, NTPC, Tech Mahindra, Tata Motors, Bharti Airtel, and UltraTech Cement opened with gains, while Power Grid, Maruti, Bajaj Finserv, Sun Pharma, HUL and HCL Tech opened with cuts.

The tech-heavy Nasdaq led Wall Street higher last week as megacap growth companies such as Alphabet, Meta Platforms as well as chipmakers Intel and Lam Research posted strong quarterly earnings.

In aggregate terms, bank loans advanced 16.3% in June. Retail loans climbed more than a fifth on year, supported mainly by home and vehicle loans, the latest central bank data showed. Bank loans to non-bank lenders climbed, and so did the disbursements to large companies.

Although the broad contours of a restructuring plan have been agreed upon, its implementation hinges on approval from individual lenders as well as the National Company Law Appellate Tribunal (NCLAT), people familiar with the matter said.
