Fire-fighting BoE buys inflation-linked bonds

Citing a "material risk" to financial stability after pension firms were hit by the turmoil, the BoE split its programme to buy up to 10 billion pounds of British gilts each day to include up to 5 billion pounds of index-linked bonds.

Suzlon Energy would be able to pare its debt by ₹583.5 crore with full subscription of its ₹1,200 crore rights issue which opened on Tuesday, the company said. "₹583.5 crore debt will be repaid with the assumption of full subscription of ₹1,200 crore rights issue opened on Tuesday," Suzlon Group Chief Financial Officer Himanshu Mody said.

HCL Technologies, Wipro, National Standard (India), SW Solar, NxtDigital, Mangalam Industial Finance and Artson Engineering are among the companies that will announce their results for September 2022 quarter today.

HSBC has received Sebi’s nod to acquire L&T Investment Managers. HSBC had announced the acquisition of L&T Finance Holdings’ MF business for $425 million in December. The schemes operated by L&T MF will be transferred to HSBC MF and merged or consolidated with identified schemes in line with regulatory guidelines

The International Monetary Fund cut its 2023 global growth forecast from 2.9% to 2.7%, warning that pressures from inflation, war-driven energy and food crises, and higher interest rates may tip the world into recession and financial market instability.

India’s growth forecast for FY23 was downgraded to 7.4% in July from 8.2% estimated in April in view of less favourable external conditions and more rapid monetary policy tightening. Growth projection was slashed in April to 8.2% from 9% on account of higher commodity prices.

RBI allows ARCs to act as resolution applicants

Earlier, the RBI opposed the proposal allowing ARCs to bid for debt resolution under bankruptcy courts. The RBI now said that ARCs with a minimum net owned fund of Rs 1,000 crore can act as resolution applicants.
