Valuations have moved up but they have to be viewed in the context of the overall growth environment. Large-cap share valuations are at a relatively modest 10-15% premium to their historical averages.

The Dow Jones Industrial Average fell 13.83 points, or 0.03%, at the open to 39,989.76. The S&P 500 opened higher by 2.08 points, or 0.04%, at 5,305.35, while the Nasdaq Composite gained 16.06 points, or 0.10%, to 16,702.02 at the opening bell.

After a strong response for the IPO, Virat Kohli-backed Go Digit Insurance is likely to finalise the share allotment on Tuesday. The issue was booked nearly 10 times at close on strong interest from retail and institutional buyers.

The IPO of Awfis Space Solutions is set to open for subscription on May 22 and will close on May 27. The company aims to raise approximately Rs 599 crore through this public offer. Awfis has set a price band of Rs 364-383 per share, and investors can bid for 39 shares in one lot and in multiples thereafter.

Deutsche Bank has raised its 2024 year-end S&P 500 target to 5,500, the highest among major brokerages, banking on strong corporate earnings to support equity valuations.
