Golden Cross is an important technical indicator of bullishness. It occurs when a short-term moving average crosses over a major long-term moving average on the upside.

In May last year, they could’ve chosen from around ten global equity markets such as the US, the UK, Germany, Japan, or China. Fourteen months later, India is the only major equity market in that list to have returned a profit - even considering the depreciation of the rupee – while the other markets have lost between 5% and 35% in dollar terms."

There are about six equity mutual funds schemes that have offered over 20 per cent return in 2022 so far. These six schemes altogether hold about 125 stocks in their portfolios. Surprisingly, there is not one stock that is held by all six schemes but State Bank of India is the one held by five out of these six schemes.

“We are pretty much in sync with the view of India being one of the key growth drivers of the world. But we need to think about market expectations and the problem is that valuations to some extent at times are suggestive that expectations have got a little bit more impatient and some reality check could play out in the near term.”

“If you see the results ACC, Ambujam delivered in the previous few quarters as well as the overall capacity accretion and earnings growth, the outlook is not so great. Most of the stocks have gone up 30% odd, Ambuja, ACC are trading at very random valuations. So from a minority investor standpoint, they do not offer much value at this stage.”

The 30-share pack Sensex declined 412.96 points to end at 59,934.01. Its broader peer, Nifty50, ended below 17,900 level.

Loss-making Vi had on June 22 opted for a four-year deferment of these additional dues. But it needs to inform the DoT by Friday (September 16) on whether it would also opt for conversion of the accrued interest on such deferred AGR-related dues (for FY18 and FY19) into equity. A query to Vi remained unanswered at the time of going to press.

Bindu Darshan Shah, the proprietor of the firm, wrote in his report that “the said Shares were acquired by the Trustee against invocation of pledge made by the Promoter/Promoter Group of the Company. The management of the company believes that the Trustee does not have any voting rights on invoked shares since no beneficiary rights are being transferred except for sale of the invoked shares.”

The boards of government-owned companies will now be able to decide on a strategic divestment or minority stake sale in their subsidiaries, units and joint ventures.
