Walgreens drops sale of Boots pharmacy chain

Earlier this month, Reliance Industries Limited together with private equity group Apollo Global Management Inc made a firm and fully financed offer to buy Boots – Britain’s biggest pharmacy chain – for $6.3 billion, much lower than original 7 billion pounds ($8.8 billion) price tag that was sought by Walgreens.

The agency suspects that the entire amount received by Yes Bank to DHFL has been laundered by the accused brothers Kapil and Dheeraj Wadhawan. Along with the Wadhawan brother, the promoter of Yes Bank, Rana Kapoor has been arrested in the said case.

Senior Advocate Abhishek Manu Singhvi, appearing for BSE-listed Adani Ports & SEZ, informed the top court that there was extreme urgency in the matter and sought its intervention to list and hear the matter on Wednesday. However, the vacation bench of Justices Surya Kant and JB Pardiwala directed the company to approach the registry for the same.

State Bank of India, HDFC Bank and ICICI Bank acquired a 9.54 per cent stake each in Perfios Account Aggregation Services Private Limited. Banks acquired 8,05,520 equity shares each by paying Rs 4.03 crore each for the stakes.

Treasury 10-year yields slid more than 1 basis point in Tokyo, trading to around 3.17% as Asian equities followed Wall Street lower. U.S. shares fell after a steep drop in U.S. consumer confidence stoked worries about a slowdown as the Fed rushes to get inflation in check.

Asian shares had ended the previous session on a positive trajectory after China announced an easing of its quarantine requirements for inbound passengers, in what some observes saw as the biggest relaxation so far of its "zero COVID" strategy.
