The Nifty Realty index closed 0.23 per cent up at 503.05.

The total income of the bank rose to Rs 3,893 crore in the latest December quarter from Rs 3,582 crore in the year-ago period, BoM said in a statement.

“We expect consolidated profit after tax (PAT) to increase by 10 per cent sequentially led by strong growth in standalone business on higher gross refining margins (GRMs). Petchem margin, a decent performance by Jio led by telecom tariff hike and solid recovery in EBITDA of the retail business,” said analysts at Sharekhan.

“We find reasonable valuations in broking and insurance companies, non-ferrous metals, EPC companies and infra companies.”

“We believe there is a slightly Birbal ki khichdi type multi-year cycle. It may be slow in the beginning, but will pick up pace in the later date and capital goods and industrial companies will have a couple of years of above average growth and margin expansion. ”

On the technical charts, the 200-day moving average of the stock stood at Rs 3536.43.

On Wednesday, the Nikkei closed below 27,500 for the first time since Aug. 20, with Sony and Toyota Motor registering steep declines.

The pan-European STOXX 600 skid 0.3% after positive trading updates and commodity prices helped spark a rebound in shares in its previous session.

The CSI300 index ended 0.9% higher at 4,823.51, while the Shanghai Composite Index edged down 0.1% to 3,555.06 points.

Further downside cannot be ruled out, said analysts, who suggested investors to be selective in stock picking
