Growth stocks like large-cap technology have been among the hardest hit, and investors are focused on whether earnings this year will be able to support the market.

All three Wall Street benchmarks advanced on Tuesday and the energy index closed at a multi-year high, although seesaw trading reflected investor uncertainty about how to play the current market. Recent sessions have been choppy, as the prospect of an aggressive rate-hike campaign by the US Fed.

Traders are betting on five rate hikes this year, with some Wall Street analysts expecting seven hikes.

HDFC, Adani Green, Dabur, Adani Total Gas, Dabur, Tata Consumer, Jubilant Foodworks, Indian Overseas Bank, Zee Entertainment, and M&M Finance are among the companies that will announce their December quarter results today

Total income for the quarter under review on a standalone basis was at Rs 2,530.22 crore as against Rs 2,504.86 crore registered in the same period last fiscal.

The benchmark paper yielded 6.89 per cent in afternoon trade, compared with 6.65 per cent in the morning trade Tuesday, just before Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman began her Budget speech.

Sitharaman proposed increasing the size of the economy’s annual spending to 39.5 trillion rupees ($529 billion) to support growth plans.
